Dietzville.TV #001: Hiking Up Our Hill To Check Maple Trees
The thing we’re doing on our homestead this spring?
And it has been so. much. fun.
Going into maple syruping season, I admit: I was intimidated!
I had read books and blogs about syruping, and it seemed so technical and it appeared we were going to spend an arm and a leg on special equipment.
Evaporators and hydrometers and hoses, oh my!
I was sure we’d never pull it off.
Yet, we have! And we’re loving it!
Using no fancy equipment, we’ve tapped, harvested, boiled, and finished almost 4 gallons 100% pure and organic maple syrup. And it’s is one of the BEST things I’ve ever put in my mouth!
Watch as I hike up our hill and show you around my backyard, what our maple tree taps look like, and how I feel about maple syruping for the first time!
